Disability Support Worker – Biggenden QLD

We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Disability Support Worker to support a young participant in Biggenden / Degilbo, QLD. The ideal candidate will be local to the area, confident working with children, and able to provide structured, attentive support in both home and community settings.

A male worker is preferred, however female applicants are also welcome to apply.

About the Role

The participant is a 7-year-old boy with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. Support focuses on daily routines, school pick-ups, and building social and communication skills. The participant can abscond and has no awareness of danger, so active supervision and engagement are essential at all times.

You'll work closely with the participant's family, who are approachable and supportive, to deliver consistent and safe support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, reliable transport for school pickups and community access
  • Support daily routines and transitions (e.g. getting ready for school)
  • Actively engage and work on social skill development (e.g. maintaining attention, prompting eye contact)
  • Monitor safety closely during all activities
  • Communicate professionally with the family and NDC team

Schedule

  • Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays: 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
  • One Saturday per month: 4-hour shift (community outing)

  • Local to Biggenden / Degilbo, QLD
  • Male worker preferred (female applicants still encouraged)
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working With Children Check (Blue Card)
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate
  • Current First Aid & CPR Certificates
  • Police Check
  • Own vehicle with insurance
  • Reliable, patient, and strong communicator
