About Redkite and Cancer Hub:
When a child is diagnosed with cancer, it affects the whole family. In the daunting and unpredictable experience that follows diagnosis, a child needs as much stability and support from their family as possible. Redkite is a lifeline for families, providing real emotional, financial and practical support. Because holding it together when your child's life is in question can feel impossible.
Cancer Hub is a digital one stop shop helping families impacted by cancer (with children aged 0-25) more easily access the practical and emotional support they need. Cancer Hub is a collaboration between Canteen, Camp Quality and Redkite. The successful candidate will be employed by Redkite but will work within the Cancer Hub and will predominantly focus on supporting Redkite families.
The role:
As a Cancer Navigator, you will work with family members to develop a tailored plan and connect them to the service(s) that best meet their needs. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high quality, evidence-based cancer navigation support to young people and families impacted by cancer.
- Actively participate in psychosocial review meetings, communicating changes, challenges and needs associated with each service user and their family.
- Utilising a case management approach with practical support methods to facilitate referrals and other supports.
- Identify and contribute to key stakeholder relationships to ensure young people and families receive access to the support that best meets their needs.
- Collaborate and consult with peers, share practice through teaching and learning opportunities
- Contribute to team projects and overall development of the service.
Due to the nature of Redkite and Cancer Hubs work, you will be required to (very) occasionally work weekends and evenings. Advance notice will be given when this is the case, and Redkite does have a Time off in Lieu policy for taking leave as agreed with the supervising manager.
About you:
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following skills & experience:
- Demonstrated experience in delivering case management and/or clinical intervention within child, youth or health focused settings will be highly regarded
- Tertiary qualification in Social Work
- Experience creating and maintaining relationships with sector partners such as hospitals, health and community services, education and not-for-profit professionals.
- Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing safety plans.
- Knowledge of child protection legislation and mandatory reporting.
- Experience with working in a multi-disciplinary team, liaising with staff from different departments (internal and external) and working within a remote team.
- Demonstrated skills in decision making, problem solving, negotiation and crisis management
- Outstanding communication skills and a natural ability to connect
- A compassionate values-based approach
