As the business embarks on its next phase of growth, they are seeking an accomplished and respected HSE professional to drive the next phase of their safety and wellbeing strategy.

About the Role

Reporting into the Executive General Manager – HR and Safety, the General Manager HSE is a trusted and influential leader who brings both practical experience and strategic insight. Operating within a decentralised model, this role leads a small central team and empowers regions and dealerships to deliver locally relevant, legally compliant and fit-for-purpose solutions all whilst staying aligned to our Group's broader objectives.

You'll provide hands-on leadership, guiding and enabling others to prioritise what truly matters – protecting people, simplifying systems and embedding safety, wellbeing and care into everyday work.

Key focus areas:

• Partner with executives and operational leaders to embed a proactive, leader-led safety culture;
• Provide strategic direction and practical guidance on critical risk management, injury prevention and wellbeing;
• Empower regional HSE teams through coaching, collaboration and capability development;
• Strengthen assurance and reporting frameworks that inform decision-making without unnecessary complexity; and
• Lead the evolution of systems to meet emerging risks – Including electrical vehicle technologies.

About You

You are an experienced HSE leader who influences through connection and credibility rather than compliance alone. Empathetic and grounded, you bring operational understanding and strategic capability in equal measure. You will have superior listening skills, respect for the existing knowledge and long tenure of our people and a deep curiosity in understanding our ways of working. Operational and commercial acumen go a long way here, advancing safety and wellbeing through thoughtful, incremental change.

You will also bring:

• Proven experience leading HSE strategy across large, multi-site or decentralised organisations;
• A collaborative and consultative approach with genuine engagement at the frontline;
• Strong technical knowledge of WHS, environmental and workers' compensation frameworks;
• Experience in complex operational settings with a diverse risk profile such as automotive, manufacturing, logistics or other industrial sectors; and
• A track record of enabling leaders and driving continuous improvement through simple, practical solutions.
