About the Role

A leading global financial technology provider is seeking a
Senior UX Designer
to join its Sydney-based team. The consultant will focus on designing
user-centred digital payment experiences
within the cards and payments ecosystem, ensuring intuitive, secure, and seamless customer interactions across digital touchpoints.

The consultant will work across
end-to-end UX design
, from research and prototyping to high-fidelity UI delivery, collaborating with product, development, and business teams to deliver innovative, compliant, and customer-first payment solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the
    end-to-end UX design process
    across discovery, research, prototyping, and high-fidelity UI delivery.
  • Collaborate with
    product managers, developers, business analysts, and stakeholders
    to translate business goals and customer needs into elegant, practical design solutions.
  • Conduct
    user research, usability testing, and competitor analysis
    to inform design decisions and validate outcomes.
  • Develop and refine
    user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals
    for mobile and web platforms.
  • Ensure all designs adhere to
    accessibility (WCAG), usability, and security best practices
    , particularly within regulated payment environments.
  • Advocate for
    customer experience excellence
    , representing user perspectives throughout product development.
  • Stay abreast of
    emerging design trends, technologies, and payment regulations
    .
  • Provide
    mentorship and design guidance
    to junior UX team members.

Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum
    5 years' UX design experience
    , including at least 2 years in
    cards, payments, or fintech
    .
  • Proven experience designing for
    digital wallets, payment gateways, or card ecosystems
    .
  • Proficiency in
    Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, or InVision
    .
  • Strong understanding of
    secure payment flows, transaction authorisation, and compliance frameworks
    (e.g., PCI DSS, PSD2).
  • Experience designing for
    mobile, web, and native applications
    with responsive/adaptive principles.
  • Experience working in
    Agile delivery environments
    .

Highly Valued / Desirable:

  • Previous experience mentoring or leading design teams.
  • Exposure to emerging
    FinTech innovations
    , such as real-time payments or digital wallets.
  • Familiarity with
    cross-platform design systems
    and component libraries.
