Project Manager – Construction

Lead Major Projects with Builders Steel Direct (BSD)

Are you an experienced Project Manager ready to take charge of large-scale commercial and residential construction projects? Builders Steel Direct (BSD) is seeking a results-driven, highly organised leader to join our growing team.

Reporting directly to senior management, you'll oversee projects from conception to completion — ensuring timelines, budgets, safety, and quality standards are consistently met. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of high-value builds and work alongside a skilled, collaborative team.


Key Responsibilities

Project Leadership & Delivery

  • Manage and deliver multiple projects across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors.
  • Oversee all stages of project delivery — from planning and procurement to fabrication, logistics, and on-site installation.
  • Read, interpret, and understand construction plans, engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate execution.
  • Lead and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, engineers, and suppliers to meet project performance, safety, and quality expectations.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (Drafting, Estimating, Production, Transport, and Site) to ensure workflow efficiency and project alignment.
  • Ensure all works comply with relevant building codes, standards, and company policies.

Financial & Contract Management

  • Develop and monitor project budgets, schedules, and cost forecasts.
  • Review and approve progress claims, variations, and purchase orders.
  • Negotiate and manage subcontractor and supplier contracts in coordination with the Contracts Administrator.
  • Track project financial performance and identify cost-saving opportunities.

Planning & Coordination

  • Prepare detailed project programs and delivery schedules, ensuring milestones and deadlines are achieved.
  • Manage procurement and material deliveries to maintain smooth timelines.
  • Conduct site inspections and coordination meetings to identify risks and resolve issues early.
  • Maintain strong communication with clients, consultants, and stakeholders throughout all project phases.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Provide regular project updates and progress reports to management.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, correspondence, and compliance records.
  • Promote and uphold all WHS and quality assurance standards across project operations.

About You
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience as a Project Manager within construction or steel fabrication.
  • Strong ability to read, interpret, and manage from technical plans and drawings.
  • Proven success in managing end-to-end project delivery across multiple disciplines.
  • Deep understanding of construction contracts, budgets, scheduling, and procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Current driver's licence and ability to travel to project sites as required.
