About our school
St Mary's Primary School is situated in the historic Queensland provincial city of Ipswich, 45 km from Brisbane CBD. Our beautiful, historical architecture of sandstone buildings are a visual reminder that quality Catholic Education has been delivered on our site for over 150 years We are a co-educational school with a current enrolment of 575 students from Prep through to Year 6. The dedicated teaching and support staff endeavour to provide high quality, inclusive education by providing engaging learning activities that support not only students' academic advancement but also their personal growth based upon a Catholic Christian tradition. About the opportunity
The Technologies Teacher position in St Mary's Primary School, is a specialist teaching position which involves delivering weekly technology lessons to students from Prep to Year 6, within a supportive school environment. You will be part of a collaborative specialist teaching team, with access to learning support staff and learning enhacement teachers.
In this position you will be responsible for:
- Creating a nurturing and ordered learning environment that is learner-centred, supportive, cooperative, and aligned with relevant curriculum policies, documents and practices
- Collaboratively developing and implementing quality curriculum programs and appropriate pedagogy; evaluating their effectiveness; assessing and reporting student progress and learning outcomes; and reporting these to students, parents and the community
- Working collaboratively with the leadership team, teachers and other staff members in contributing to the professional life of the school and fostering a positive school culture
- Proactively engaging with professional learning to enhance student learning outcomes
- Establishing positive relationships in the pastoral care of students and supporting their spiritual and moral development
- Ensure that the teachings and values of the Catholic Church form a foundation for learning and teaching.
About you
To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:
- Creating a supportive, learner-focused classroom aligned with the Australian Curriculum
- Expertise in designing and delivering effective curriculum programs in line with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- Commitment to engage with colleagues, students, and parents/carers to enrich learning experiences and achieve the best educational outcomes for students
- A passion to support students' spiritual and moral development
- Strong skills in technologies curriculum are highly desirable
- Proven ability to enhance technology engagement and skills across the whole school context including classroom integration, extra-curricular activities and student opportunities
- Experience in STEAM education will be highly valued
Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:
- Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
- Current registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
