The CSA Mine is located in Cobar NSW and is Australia's highest-grade copper mine.
We are located 11 kilometres north-west of Cobar, central western New South Wales. At 1.9 kilometres deep, it is one of Australia's deepest underground mines.
Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, CSA Mine directly employs over 500 people including contractors.
About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Mine Surveyor to provide accurate and timely surveying services to support underground mining activities. You will play a key role in ensuring that operations run efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct underground and surface surveys for development, production, and infrastructure projects.
- Maintain and update mine plans, ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.
- Collaborate with engineering, geology, and operations teams to deliver survey data and insights.
- Perform mark-ups for drilling, excavation, and other mining activities.
- Utilize advanced survey equipment and software to collect, process, and analyze data.
- Ensure survey activities adhere to safety and environmental standards.
What We're Looking For:
- Degree or diploma in surveying or a related field. BOSSI recognised degree and qualified in Mine Surveying or Spatial Sciences will be highly regarded.
- Previous experience in underground mine surveying.
- Proficiency in using total stations, GPS, and mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Surpac, or AutoCAD).
- Current driver's license and relevant Australian working rights.
- Strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Conditions:
This position is offered on a residential (preferred) or drive in drive out (DIDO) or fly in fly out (FIFO) from Sydney or Brisbane on an 8/6 roster.
If residential is the preferred commute option relocation costs and a housing subsidy will be provided to the successful candidate to assist in relocating to Cobar. Candidates interested in the DIDO or FIFO will be provided with commute single accommodation and meals at the mine camp. CSA also provides Pool & Gym Reimbursements to our employees and their dependants.

Located an eight-hour drive to Sydney, nine-hour drive to Melbourne, and a quick three-hour drive to Dubbo, Cobar is a fascinating town rich in mining heritage and natural attractions. Entertainment options include restaurants, pubs, and clubs for dining out. You will be kept busy with a bowling and golf club, rugby and rugby league teams, race club, pony club, Olympic size swimming pool, gym – and more The town boasts beautiful parks, two reservoirs, picnic areas and playgrounds. The youth club 'Youthie' is a vibrant children's hub with a games room, gym and weights room, squash courts, sauna, indoor stadium, outdoor basketball court and a skate park.
