We're on the lookout for a skilled and driven surveyor to join our growing field team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in civil construction environments, enjoys autonomy in the field, and values delivering work to a high standard.
You'll be responsible for delivering field surveys across a range of job types — including civil infrastructure, residential and commercial setouts, and contour & detail surveys — all while being backed by our solid QA systems and in-house technical support.
This role will be the lead surveyor on some of our larger civil sites up to 190 lot subdivisions.
Some of your duties will Include:
- Calculating and adapting field files for site conditions
- Preparing and calculating design files for field survey
- Performing best practice resections and ensuring a high quality of survey control is maintained
- Uploading/downloading survey data and managing equipment in the field
- Civil setouts including kerb lines, services, stormwater, sewer, footpaths, retaining walls and levels
- Civil pickups for ascon and progress phases of the civil project
- Construction setouts for buildings (residential + commercial)
- Capturing data for contour and detail plans
- Ensuring QA processes and site-specific standards are followed
- Communicating clearly with site teams, clients and the Sonto crew
- Escalating issues, errors, or process improvements when needed
What we're looking for:
- Previous field survey experience — civil
- Strong attention to detail and ownership of your work
- Confidence working autonomously while contributing to a wider team
- Good communication skills
- Valid driver's licence and White Card
- Registration with the SBQ is welcomed but not essential
This role is best suited to a candidate with previous experience in surveying in the civil & construction industry. You will bring your experience and attention to detail to this role. The successful candidate will have career progression opportunities and will be adamantly supported by the whole Sonto Team. The successful candidate will be provided with training and support to complete the requirements of this role & to further develop their skills to become an exceptional surveyor.

To be considered for this role you must hold a valid drives licence and general construction Induction card.
We are open to surveyors with registration with the SBQ as well.
