We're seeking a passionate Safety Coordinator to join Seymour Whyte, supporting major works and development across Australia. You'll also contribute to incident investigations and help drive ongoing improvements in safety practices.
About Seymour Whyte
We are a successful civil contracting business that has been operating in Australia for over 35 years. With the agility and personal connection of a Tier 2, yet the expertise of a Tier 1, and the enhanced resources of one of the largest, world-class construction companies, VINCI, our employees and clients get the best of three worlds.
As a progressive, leading civil engineering firm built on the strong foundations of our unique history, we engage, enable and empower our people to be better. With you, we are altogether stronger, in building the future we want.
About The Role
- Understand and comply with all Seymour Whyte policies, procedures, and training.
- Mentor site personnel to improve workplace health and safety.
- Assist Project Managers with safety systems, plans, and procedures.

- Assess risks and opportunities for improving safety management.
- Provide timely advice on safety matters and corrective actions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, standards, and innovations.
- Foster a clear and transparent safety culture on site.
About You
- Certificate IV in OHS and Workplace Assessment & Training.
- Workplace Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator certification.
- First Aid and Emergency Response training.
- 3+ years' experience in civil/construction or relevant industry.
- Knowledge of plant operations, excavation safety, scaffolding, rigging, and traffic management.
- ICAM, drug and alcohol testing, internal auditing, confined space, and working at heights certifications.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong rapport-building and communication skills.
- Team-first attitude and collaborative approach.
- Driver's licence.

- Financial wellbeing – competitive remuneration, annual performance bonuses, salary continuance insurance and employee share program.
- Career development – training, mentoring programs, and leadership development program.
Many of our projects are located in regional areas and some in hard to reach locations with limited or no public transport. Therefore, all applicants must hold a current Driver's Licence and have their own reliable transport.
Seymour Whyte is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and we encourage applications from candidates with diverse backgrounds, including veterans.
