We are seeking a Senior Accounts Officer to be part of our National Management team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting/administration skills.

Your new role
As Senior Account Officer in our Brisbane office, you will play a key role in providing accounts support to our national firm.

Working with the guidance of the Chief Executive officer and Financial Controller, your variety of work will include:

  • Experience operating a trust account (including term deposits and investments) and being responsible for preparations of QLS Audit requirements with external accountants/auditors
  • Work across all areas of the accounting system.
  • Assist in reconciliations and reporting as required.
  • Assist entering and payment of creditors as required
  • Ensure compliance with internal financial policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
  • Support financial audits and reviews as required.
  • Working with P&C on fortnightly payroll of the business
  • Identify opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy, including technology optimisation, automation, and standardisation to enhance effectiveness, streamline operations and reduce costs.
  • Integrate learnings from others to develop the firm and team further.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of financial information.
  • Some travel required to keep a presence in all offices for the finance team

You Will Bring To The Role

  • Accounting experience within a law firm is required;
  • Understanding and experience with QLS Trust account rules and regulations
  • Payroll experience
  • Provide high quality, proactive and responsive client service
  • Previous experience with a legal practice management system (preferably Actionstep & Xero) highly advantageous
  • Be highly organised, able to plan and prioritise work to meet key deadlines
  • Show initiative and a willingness to learn and develop new skills
