Senior Accounts Officer

Join a collaborative finance team where your leadership and expertise will make a real impact. We're seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Accounts Officer to be based in our Brisbane office.

ABOUT THE ROLE

In this role, you'll manage end-to-end Accounts Payable and Receivable functions, ensuring timely payments, accurate invoicing, and effective debt collection. You'll lead reconciliations, prepare management reports, and support month-end close activities including journal entries and balance sheet reviews.

As a team leader, you'll supervise and mentor accounts staff, allocate workloads, and ensure deadlines are met with precision. You'll also be the primary contact for internal and external stakeholders—resolving queries, maintaining strong vendor and client relationships, and ensuring compliance with internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable & Receivable

• You will oversee supplier invoicing, manage fortnightly payment runs, and handle credit applications, while also monitoring debtor accounts to ensure timely collections. Maintaining accurate financial records and resolving discrepancies

Reconciliations, Reporting & Month-End Support

• Perform AP/AR and bank reconciliations, preparing aged payables and receivables reports along with other internal management reporting, and supporting month-end close by posting journals and assisting with audit requirements.

Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

• Supervise and support accounts team members to ensure smooth daily operations and high performance, while responding to supplier and customer queries with professionalism and efficiency. You'll also foster strong relationships across internal departments and with external partners, contributing to a collaborative and service-focused finance environment.

Process Improvement

• Identifying and implementing efficiencies across financial workflows, while actively supporting system enhancements and transitions

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Experience in a similar role with some leadership or mentorship experience.
• Experience with financial systems (such as MYOB, Jobpac Connect, and ProSpend is preferred but not essential) and Microsoft Excel.
• Understanding of basic accounting principles and transactional finance
• Understanding of QBCC project trust account requirements on payables and receivables is preferred but not essential
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to lead and motivate a team
• Problem solving mindset and proactive approach
