Perth, Western Australia Rare Pty Ltd Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

We are currently seeking an experienced
Website Project Director

to join Perth's award winning and largest independent full-service creative advertising agency. Our independence sets us apart at Rare and allows us to
put people at the heart of everything we do.

Rare is one of Australia's most awarded independent agencies, based in Perth. We create meaningful change with people at the heart, making brands more human through ideas that aren't just seen, but felt. We operate in a truly integrated Hub Model, bringing together experts from Strategy, Creative, Media, and Production to solve client challenges holistically.

Your Responsibilities can include:

The Website Project Director is a central digital specialist integral to the agency's next phase of growth, responsible for establishing technical excellence, strategic oversight, and production efficiency by creating scalable systems, providing expert consultation, building strong client relationships and mentoring internal teams to achieve seamless and connected website outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

The role has a clear dual mandate: Systemisation (Immediate Priority) and Innovation (Future Focus).

I. Systemisation & Mentorship

Your primary function is providing expertise and ensuring scalable delivery for our website project portfolio.

  • Project Oversight: Serve as the high-level Director for a wide range of website projects (E-commerce, campaign sites, corporate builds), providing strategic oversight to 10–12 projects concurrently across various teams.
  • Process Creation: Design, implement, and document repeatable, scalable systems and workflows that increase quality and efficiency across all website delivery.
  • Scoping & Strategy: Act as an internal and client-facing website consultant, providing technical expertise on project scoping, resource allocation, and quoting for new business pitches and flexible Support Retainers.
  • Quality & Upskilling: Act as the final quality gate, providing mentorship and strategic check-ins to lift the entire team's digital skill set, ensuring technical excellence is maintained across the agency.

II. Innovation & Future Growth

  • Digital Innovation: Identify new technologies, platforms, and digital offerings that enhance client value and push the boundaries of the agency's digital work.
  • New Business Development: Drive strategic responses for new business proposals, showcasing innovative digital approaches aligned with client goals.
  • Effectiveness Evaluation: Help establish metrics and evaluate the effectiveness of digital ideas and campaigns to inform future strategy and optimisation.

About You

We are looking for a Strategic Leader with Deep Expertise, some might say a digital unicorn.

  • Experienced Generalist: You are a senior digital professional who has managed complex website projects from start to finish across multiple platforms (e-commerce, corporate, lead-gen).
  • High-Level Oversight: Possess a proven ability to compartmentalise and maintain strategic clarity across a large portfolio of active projects simultaneously.
  • Problem Solver: You embody the digital mentality: "I don't know what that is, but I'll figure it out." You are energised by complexity and providing strategic clarity.
  • Mentor & Collaborator: You thrive in an open environment, are eager to share knowledge, and embody integrity, collaboration, and authenticity. You contribute to a "good environment" where the team is open to learning and having a laugh.
  • Strategic Translator: A thinker who combines logic and creativity, able to analyse data and cultural signals and translate them into practical, single-minded actions.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience: 5+ years of demonstrable experience in digital project management, account management and digital production (agency setting preferred).
  • Deep Website Expertise: Proven technical understanding of SEO, UX, front-end/back-end, and logistics planning across varied digital builds, including multisite, e-commerce, corporate, and lead-generation platforms.
  • Process Creation: Documented experience in creating, implementing, and rolling out repeatable systems for production and delivery.
  • Communication: Clear writer, confident presenter, and adept at providing direction and guidance to team members and equally building strong rapport with clients.
