About your Role
As our current incumbent prepares to transition out of the role, we are inviting applications for a Learning Manager to join our high-performing Hastings Deering PNG team, based in Port Moresby.
This integral leadership role exists to develop and implement a learning and development strategy (in alignment with Hastings Deering Institute of Technology) for the organisation and external customers.
Reporting to the Manager - PNG and Solomon Islands, your key responsibilities will include:
- Identify learning and development (L&D) needs within the area through job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with managers
- Develop an annual strategic L&D plan that incorporate needs identified from performance appraisals and other methodology
- Ensure training is planned, conducted, assessed and recorded so that it meets the needs of the user departments and complies with the NTC, NATTB and Department of Labour guidelines and requirements
- Manage governance processes required (including a reporting framework linking statutory requirements and Company L&D policies, procedures and records to ensure accountability and transparency, and legislative and funding compliance) and provide advice and support to management to guarantee all relevant regulations and legislation are adhered to
- Establish and maintain direct contact with major account stakeholders. Maintain relevant customer contact and build relationships with potential new customers as well as promote Hastings Deerings Institute of Technology
- Develop and manage strong partnerships with clients within the region to deliver valuable, effective and timely people related initiatives considering strategy, compliance with relevant legislation, cost and effective solutions
About You
You will bring the following skills and experience to the role:
- Tertiary qualifications with a focus on Training/Organisational Development or equivalent experience
- Minimum seven years' experience in a lead role in designing sound L&D strategies, training, and business processes, ideally within a large diverse organisation (Mining/Heavy Equipment preferred)
- Extensive experience influencing stakeholders at all levels to achieve desired outcomes in delegated timeframes
- Experience of designing and delivering a variety of training solutions including partnering with third parties
- Working knowledge of current and emerging L&D trends and learning aids, and a sound understanding of L&D including the regulatory framework of training funding and related government bodies
- TAA Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (desirable, but not essential)
- Automotive Mechanical Heavy Equipment or Diesel Fitting understanding preferred (desirable, but not essential)
