About Machine

Machine has been delivering high-quality screen printing, embroidery, and custom garment decoration to Melbourne and beyond for over 25 years. We work with businesses, events, and brands to create branded apparel and merchandise.

We are entering an exciting new phase of growth, looking to attract and service high-value B2B clients focusing on the strengths and benefits of local production over offshore manufacturing. To support this growth, we are creating a brand-new Sales role – a pivotal position that will drive new business opportunities and help shape our sales approach for the future.

Position Overview

As our first dedicated sales person, you will lead the development of our outbound sales function from the ground up. This role is ideal for an experienced, self-motivated sales professional who thrives on winning new business, building strong client relationships, and setting up sales strategies that deliver results.

The right candidate will not only drive revenue but also help establish the systems, processes, and KPIs that will guide our future sales growth. This is a customer-facing role for someone who loves sales and has the confidence to take ownership of a new position within a creative and fast-paced business.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Development

  • Identify, target, and secure new B2B clients, focusing on businesses with high-volume or repeat apparel needs (~$25K/year+).

  • Proactively conduct outbound sales activities including cold calls, emails, networking, and in-person visits.
  • Represent Machine in a professional and approachable manner.

  • Client Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key decision-makers and marketing/event coordinators.

  • Deliver exceptional customer experiences from first contact to onboarding.
  • Sales Strategy & Reporting

  • Work with management to create and implement an outbound sales strategy and pipeline.

  • Establish KPIs and track performance through regular reporting.
  • Utilise and optimise a CRM system to manage leads, track opportunities, and forecast sales.
  • Collaboration with Management

  • Advise on best practices for outbound sales processes within the garment decoration industry.

  • Provide input on commission structures, sales campaigns, and promotional opportunities.
  • Take ownership of the outbound sales department as the business grows.

Key Skills & Attributes

  • Proven experience in B2B outbound sales, ideally in promotional products, apparel, printing, or a related industry.
  • Minimum 5+ years of B2B outbound sales experience required.
  • Strong ability to prospect, pitch, and close deals with new clients.
  • Highly personable with excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-starter with a results-driven and target-focused approach.
  • Competent with CRM systems and basic reporting for sales pipelines.
  • Understanding of screen printing, embroidery, or garment decoration is a plus, but sales acumen is the priority.
  • Organised, professional, and motivated to grow a new department.

KPIs & Success Metrics

  • New client acquisition per month (target to be set collaboratively).
  • Sales revenue growth generated from new business.
  • Client retention and repeat business rates.
  • Timely and accurate use of CRM and reporting tools.

Remuneration

This position will be retainer + commission based, reflecting the sales focus and growth potential of the role.

Indicative structure to be finalised with the successful candidate.

  • Start Date: As soon as practical – we're happy to wait for the right person to transition from their current role.
  • Tools & Support: Laptop, phone allowance, CRM access, marketing support.
  • Hours: Full-time, standard business hours with flexibility for client meetings/events.
  • Requirements: Own vehicle.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency required.
