At Smartways, we're more than a logistics company – we're in the business of saving lives. We specialise in time-critical, complex healthcare logistics across Australasia. Behind every life-saving delivery is a team of passionate professionals and behind every high-performing team is strong, reliable HR generalist that helps our people thrive.
We're now looking for a Human Resource Generalist to support our teams, own end-to-end recruitment, partner with leaders, and ensure our people have what they need to succeed in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. This role is hands-on, people-focused, and essential to keeping our operations running smoothly.

At Smartways, we specialise in time-critical, complex logistics for the Australasian healthcare community. Our mission is to lift patient outcomes and save lives across medical devices, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, and clinical trials.
We are driven by a passion for excellence, constantly innovating services ranging from emergency patient-on-table deliveries to scheduled, temperature-controlled global shipments. As Australasia's first 100% carbon-neutral healthcare logistics company, we measure success not just by business outcomes, but by the impact we make in healthcare every day.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Human Resource Generalist provides day-to-day HR support across the business, ensuring our teams are engaged, capable, and supported. You will work closely with managers and employees to deliver practical HR solutions, own the recruitment process, engagement activities, advise leaders and assist with key people initiatives that help Smartways and our people perform at their best.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Drive workforce planning and organisational design initiatives to build capability and agility
- Guide managers through performance management processes, succession planning, and leadership development
- Champion a positive workplace culture aligned to Smartways' values and mission
- Provide expert advice on employee relations, conflict resolution, and compliance matters
- Support talent management initiatives including career pathways and skills development
- Lead HR projects in areas such as culture, engagement surveys, and organisational development
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and industrial agreements
- Partner with Learning & Development to implement targeted capability-building initiatives
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Proven HR Generalist or business partnering experience in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated understanding of employment legislation and HR best practices
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across all organisational levels
- Experience with HRIS systems and data-driven decision making
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment
- High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
- People-centric mindset with alignment to our values
WHY JOIN SMARTWAYS?
- Make a tangible difference every day – your work directly supports life-saving healthcare logistics
- Work with leaders who value people, culture, and operational excellence
- Fast-growing organisation where decisions are made quickly and innovation is encouraged
- Birthday Leave – enjoy a paid day off to celebrate
- Be part of Australasia's first carbon-neutral healthcare logistics company
- Help shape social, engagement, and people initiatives that strengthen our culture
