About the teamAbout the Commission
We are Australia's trade remedies authority - the Anti-Dumping Commission. The Commission is responsible for undertaking investigations into allegations of unfair international trade practices involving goods entering Australia and administering Australia's anti-dumping legislation. These investigations seek to deliver a level playing field for industry.

About the branch
The commission's Strategy and Operations Branch is responsible for providing critical advisory and strategic support to the commission, to enable the efficient and effective conduct of investigations case work.
The branch currently delivers:
- Domestic and international stakeholder engagement
- Data management and analysis
- Governance and performance reporting
- Advisory support to Australian businesses
- Practice improvement design and implementation
- Specialist recruitment, training and development
- Corporate and business services
Outreach and Engagement
Within Strategy and Operations Branch, the Outreach and Engagement (O&E) Section leads on engagement with anti-dumping system stakeholders to support the Anti-Dumping Commission
O&E's main duties are to:
- Provide secretariat support for the International Trade Remedies Forum (ITRF), the Commission's domestic stakeholder body
- Domestic stakeholder engagement which includes: supporting domestic industry users of the system to understand, access and provide feedback on the system.
- International engagement which includes: engaging in the multilateral trade remedies system; undertaking bilateral exchanges with trade remedies authorities on operational and technical matters; and
- undertaking international capacity building and knowledge exchange with regional partners in support of Australia's commitments under its international trade agreements.
- Proven ability to develop, implement, and lead communications and outreach strategies that align with and advance organisational objectives.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing high-quality briefs, reports, speeches, presentations, and videos for executive audiences.
- Experience in designing and delivering sophisticated presentations, including advanced PowerPoint skills.
- Demonstrated capability to manage and deliver communications projects and campaigns, including internal and external announcements, stakeholder education, and media engagement.
- Ability to establish and manage a social media presence, develop content for digital channels, and coordinate with broader media and communications teams.
- Strong leadership and relationship-building skills, with experience working collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders, including government, industry, and international partners.
- Professional resilience and adaptability, able to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines with minimal direction.
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills, including the ability to review and improve communication materials and processes.
As an Assistant Director, your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Provide input to the strategy and leadership of the Commission's communications and outreach work, including a strategic engagement program for the Commission's Executive, and lead in the implementation to ensure work aligns with and helps achieve the Commission's strategic objectives.
- Produce speeches, presentations, and videos for the Commission's Executive as required.
- Develop and implement an internal Commission communications strategy. Develop and source content for the Commission's and DISR's newsletters. Manage the daily media summary.
- Establish the Commission's social media presence within DISR's guidelines and develop and source content. Lead on the Commission's work on its website. Work with the DISR media and communications teams as appropriate on media enquiries.
- Lead implementation of strategies to educate stakeholders about the anti-dumping system to improve access to the system.
- Lead communications campaigns to achieve particular objectives as required. Examples could include clarifying the Commission's role to manage the expectations of government and non-government stakeholders, and establishing a profile in social media and other channels to attract suitably qualified staff to the Commission.
- Develop and implement communications projects for Commission announcements. A past example was a project to manage the announcement of a pre-application service and new Commission forms.
- Review communication opportunities in the Commission's Monthly Status Report, case documents (including developing accessible case summaries), weekly notifications, and information and templates on the Commission's website.
- The Officer will require highly developed writing skills to produce communications documents, and highly developed PowerPoint skills to design and deliver sophisticated presentations.
To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens.
Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
