DIRECTORATE OVERVIEW
The Health and Community Services Directorate (HCSD) delivers a broad range of health and human services to support the wellbeing of the ACT Community and ensures our public health system meets the community's needs, now and into the future. HCSD provides strategic leadership on policy and population health direction for the ACT health system, ensuring services are innovative, effective, and responsive to community needs.
Alongside health strategy, HCSD is responsible for a range of human services including multicultural affairs, services for older people, housing, women's initiatives, family and domestic violence and homelessness services, and support for children, youth, and families. The Directorate also leads community disaster recovery and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander engagement.
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under general direction, this position will provide high-level executive and administrative support to the Executive Group Manager and division, contributing to the efficient operation of the division and supporting strategic health system planning and development initiatives.
This role involves managing executive diaries, coordinating meetings and travel, processing accounts, and providing secretariat support. The officer is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate handling of government business, correspondence, and briefings, while maintaining appropriate records and tracking systems. The position also includes monitoring a generic inbox and allocating tasks to ensure effective workflow management.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Under the general direction of HSIP Executive Group Manager you will:
- Provide efficient and confidential executive support to the Executive Branch Manager, including the collation and delivery of relevant information and executive correspondence.
- Maintain Executive diary management, including research, preparation and dissemination of information for meetings, processing accounts for payment, travel coordination, and secretariat support.
- Coordination of government business, correspondence, briefings and ensuring appropriate record keeping is maintained.
- Monitor the branch workflow deadlines to ensure they are met.
- Work in accordance with, and uphold the ACTPS Code of Conduct, ACTPS Values and Signature Behaviours, ACT Government Respect, Equity and Diversity Framework and the Directorate's Work Health and Safety system.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the Directorate.

Professional / Technical Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency using the Microsoft Office suite to undertake a range of administrative tasks with competing priorities, including central inbox management, records management, and diary management.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and manage workflows under general direction and as a part of a small team.
- Sound organisational skills, in particular the ability to plan, prioritise, co-ordinate responses and manage workflows associated with a high-pressure environment in support of senior executive.

- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to develop productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve results, whilst working autonomously and as a member of a team.

Compliance Requirements/Qualifications
- Prior to commencement, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police Check.
- This position does not require a pre-employment medical.
Notes: There are two temporary full-time positions available immediately: one for a period of 16 months and another for three months, both with the possibility of extension.
An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
