Financial Controller - Expression of Interest

The Role

As the Financial Controller, you will oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and reporting. You will provide strategic guidance to the executive team, ensure robust financial governance, and lead a small but capable finance team. A key part of the role will include funding accountability, ensuring transparency and trust with stakeholders while shaping the financial future of this respected NFP organisation.

This is a residential role based in the Northern Territory

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead financial planning, analysis, and reporting to support executive decision-making
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations and funding requirements
  • Manage audit processes and maintain strong internal controls
  • Oversee payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and cashflow management
  • Prepare grant acquittals and ensure timely and accurate reporting to funding bodies
  • Provide financial insights to drive operational efficiency and sustainability
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Communities, Traditional Owners, Government Agencies, and Key Stakeholders.

About You

We are seeking a candidate with:

  • CPA/CA qualification and significant post-qualification experience
  • Proven success in a senior finance management role
  • Strong understanding of financial compliance, audit, and governance
  • Experience in grant management, acquittals, and funding accountability
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills
  • Experience in the not-for-profit or community services sector
