Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Electra Energy Full time $60,000 - $120,000 per year

Company Description

Electra Energy
is an accredited emissions reduction business focused on helping Australian households and businesses reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We promote the efficient use of electricity and gas through energy-efficient solutions. Approved by NETCC and Solar Victoria, we strive to encourage investment, employment, and technology development in industries that supply goods and services to help consumers reduce their utility consumption.

Role Description

This is a dynamic, high-impact role. You'll be the go-to expert who monitors compliance updates, manages relationships with regulatory bodies like the ESC (Essential Services Commission), and ensures every part of our business—from customer communication to product installation—is compliant with changes related to rebates, subsidies, and environmental certificate trading (STCs, VEECs, ESCs, PRCs). If you are resourceful, highly adaptive, and ready to navigate Australia's fast-moving energy landscape, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Regulatory Liaison:
Serve as the primary point of contact between Electra Energy and key regulatory bodies, ensuring our practices fully align with all industry standards, especially in the solar and energy efficiency sectors.
  • Expert Monitoring:
Proactively stay ahead of all compliance and regulatory changes, including those related to
    STC trading, VEECs, ESCs, PRCs,
and other federal and state-based environmental certificate and rebate programs.
  • Strategic Communication:
Distill complex regulatory information into clear, actionable updates for customers, internal teams (Sales, Product, Support), and executive leadership.
  • Operational Compliance:
Ensure correct adherence to all rebate and subsidy program guidelines, and act as a vital resource for all internal compliance inquiries.
  • Process Excellence:
Continuously review, document, and streamline internal compliance workflows for optimal efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Rapid Response:
Respond swiftly to sudden regulatory shifts, implementing necessary changes to minimise operational disruption and maintain our commitment to customers.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership:
Collaborate closely with the Product, Sales, and Support teams to embed compliance checks and requirements directly into all our offerings and processes.
  • Auditing and Training:
Schedule and oversee necessary compliance audits (phone and onsite) and develop and deliver internal and external training on compliance requirements.

Who You Are

  • Industry Experience:
Proven experience in the Australian solar or energy efficiency industry, with a strong practical understanding of
STC trading, rebates, and environmental certificate programs (VEECs, ESCs, etc.).
  • Professional Background:
1–2 years of experience in a compliance, regulatory, or legal role, with direct renewable energy experience highly regarded.
  • Adaptable & Resilient:
     Highly
    agile and adaptable
, capable of responding quickly and effectively to sudden regulatory changes while maintaining composure under pressure.
  • Outstanding Communicator:
An exceptional communicator with the ability to simplify complex regulations for diverse internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-Oriented & Independent:
     Highly
    detail-oriented
, proactive, and able to take full ownership of projects and work independently.
  • Tech Savvy:
Familiar with modern compliance management systems and tools, with a strong general technical aptitude.
  • Education & Certification:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Law, Compliance, Environmental Science, or Renewable Energy. A Compliance or risk management certification (e.g., CCEP, CRCMP, ARM) is highly desirable.
