We are actively recruiting for an experienced Environmental Health Officer (EHO) for a temporary 3- month position. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the health, safety, and wellbeing of the community by ensuring compliance with public health and food safety legislation.

The Role

As an Environmental Health Officer, you will play a key role in protecting and promoting community health. This varied role involves:

  • Assessing and approving applications, registrations, and plans under the Food Act 1984 and Public Health & Wellbeing Act 2008.

  • Conducting inspections, audits, and investigations to ensure compliance with health legislation.

  • Responding to and managing public health complaints, nuisances, and infectious disease notifications.

  • Providing guidance to local businesses, community groups, and residents on health and safety requirements.

  • Supporting council initiatives such as municipal public health planning, community education, and environmental health projects.

About You:

We are seeking a motivated professional with a strong customer focus and commitment to continuous improvement. You will have:

  • Experience as an Environmental Health Officer, with sound knowledge of relevant legislation and codes of practice.

  • Strong investigative, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a diverse communities.

Candiates must hold a valid WWCC and a police check to be considered.
