We are proud to be partnering with Stantec – Energy & Resources to deliver the study for a world-class gold project in Southeast Asia. Stantec are assembling a highly skilled team across Australia to deliver this challenging assignment for their international client.
Resourcing this study from Australia reflects Stantec's strategy to increase its focus on major projects, strengthening capability in the local resources sector while contributing to global delivery. As a flagship project, its successful outcome will provide strong visibility within Stantec and open doors to future opportunities, both in Australia and across their global network.
About the Project
This large-scale greenfield development is progressing through its Definitive Feasibility Study (DFS), with early works and execution phases to follow.
The project presents the complexities typical of major gold and copper developments in the region:
- Challenging terrain and climate, requiring careful control of scope and budget
- Remote location, where accurate forecasting and cost discipline are critical to project viability
- Large, diverse work packages, spanning civil, mechanical, electrical, and non-process infrastructure
- Dynamic scope environment, where proactive management of scope changes and impacts on cost is essential
About the Role
As Senior Cost Controller, you will support the project through the development and implementation of cost management processes across the study and into execution. Responsibilities include:
- Establishing and maintaining accurate cost control systems to support Class 3 study deliverables
- Tracking and reporting project costs against budget, highlighting variances and risks
- Supporting forecasting, cashflow management, and reporting to project leadership
- Reviewing and analysing cost data from engineering teams and procurement inputs
- Proactively managing and assessing scope and scope changes to ensure cost impacts are understood and controlled
This is not a project accounting role. The position requires someone with major projects experience who can operate in a complex, multi-discipline environment and provide meaningful insights to leadership.
About You
We are seeking a cost controls professional with:
- Proven experience as a cost controller on major resources projects (study and execution phases)
- Strong understanding of project scope and the ability to manage and track scope changes
- Proficiency in cost systems and reporting tools
- Background in large-scale mining, metals processing, or infrastructure projects
- Not suited to cost accountants or purely finance-focused profiles
Roster & Conditions
- Monday to Friday, based in Perth CBD
- Hybrid work options – up to 1 day WFH per week
- Hours: 40 per week plus approved overtime
