We are seeking an experienced Project Controls Manager for our client to lead the establishment and delivery of project controls frameworks for major clean energy transmission and distribution projects based in Perth.

This is a pivotal role responsible for setting up and managing cost, schedule, and performance controls to ensure the successful execution of large-scale construction programs from project inception.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement robust project controls systems, processes, and tools covering cost, schedule, risk, and progress management from the ground up.
  • Prepare and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and baseline schedules in alignment with contractual and performance requirements.
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on project performance, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions to maintain cost and schedule targets.
  • Provide strategic insight and guidance to project leadership on emerging risks, trends, and opportunities.
  • Manage change control processes, ensuring accurate assessment and reporting of variations and their impact on project outcomes.
  • Lead the preparation of clear and timely reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring visibility of key performance data.
  • Mentor and support project controls personnel, fostering continuous improvement and best practice across multiple projects.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to enable integrated and efficient project delivery.

Required Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Project Controls Manager (or senior project controls role) on contractor-side projects within the energy, utilities, or resources sectors.
  • Strong capability in cost control, planning, scheduling, risk management, and performance reporting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and exposure to P4 reporting or similar tools.
  • Experience in building and implementing project controls frameworks from inception across complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Good understanding of commercial frameworks, contracts, and reporting requirements for major infrastructure projects.
