An opportunity has arisen at Knox Grammar School senior campus for a permanent full-time Head of Instruction and Professional Growth.
ROLE PURPOSE
The Head of Instruction and Professional Growth is a strategic leadership role focused on fostering a culture of pedagogical excellence and continuous professional learning across the Senior School. This role will be responsible for the Directors of Teaching and Learning who will provide instructional leadership, supporting key initiatives that enhance teaching practice, drive innovation, and support staff in delivering high-impact learning experiences aligned with the Knox Teaching and Learning Framework.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement a whole-school professional growth strategy focused on pedagogical excellence
- Lead the development and delivery of targeted professional learning programs using evidence-informed practices
- Align professional development initiatives with the Knox Teaching and Learning Framework and school-wide strategic priorities
- Engage with a growth and feedback system that reflects the value and success of staff
- Lead Heads of Department in developing their ability to lead instructional practice and subject aligned pedagogical growth
- Lead a professional growth planning model for staff as a means of reflective practice and ongoing developmen
- Manage and mentor the Directors of Teaching and Learning to lead and deliver instructional support and coaching to small groups of staff and who will work with faculty teams to refine and elevate classroom practic
- Facilitate collaborative coaching cycles, peer observation, and feedback processes that promote reflective teaching and continuous improvement
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
- Postgraduate qualifications in education, leadership, or a related field would be desirable
- Proven experience in leading professional learning and instructional coaching in a school-wide setting
- Deep understanding of contemporary pedagogical theory and practice, including evidence-based teaching strategies
- Familiarity with teaching and learning frameworks and their application in classroom settings.
