An innovative, dynamic, growing technology scale up business with lots of passion and energy is expanding rapidly and requires a Program Director to oversee multidisciplinary engineering projects at varying degrees of TRL stages.

You will act as the Trusted Advisor to the customer and work closely with Engineering Discipline Leads (Hardware, Software, Aerospace, Mechatronics, Product, Electrical etc).

Responsibilities

  • Drive the research and integration of emerging technologies in AI, optics, and autonomous systems.
  • Lead and mentor the engineering discipline Leads, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and high performance.
  • Oversee engineering design principles, documentation, and process optimisation to ensure efficiency and scalability.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team and C-Suite to contribute to strategic decisions, aligning engineering initiatives with business objectives.
  • Manage the engineering P&L, ensuring responsible budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
  • Manage multiple Programs of work - $5Mil to $25Mil for product based engineering programs

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience in aerospace, aviation or defence.
  • Exceptional Program Management and some previous experience as a Program Director - comfortable and experienced managing multiple programs of work - $5Mil to $25Mil with varying TRL levels
  • Previous experience working in a scaling fast paced Technology startup is essential. Please

  • You will have previously taken a product from POC to commercialisation and learnt some lessons from this that you can bring to the table.
  • A degree and initial background in hands on engineering is required - Aerospace, Mechatronics, Electrical etc
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams

Nice to haves

  • Previous experience in autonomous systems or optical radar systems
  • PhD level qualification

This role requires a strategic mindset and the a solid understanding of complex engineering. You will value process, discipline and quality systems and have a deep understanding of how to build product to commercialisation and manufacturing.
