About the Role
Leading a team to manage Water Stewardship and Contaminated Sites to meet related environmental performance targets and compliance to corporate and legislative requirements for Western Australian Iron Ore (WAIO).
- Lead the Water Stewardship portfolio for WAIO, including coordinating development of water stewardship targets/projects, reporting performance, identification of related risks/knowledge gaps and projects as required.
- Overview Contaminated sites portfolio management for WAIO, coordination of investigations, remediation and management of Contaminated land; including but not limited to site classifications, planning, development and management of human health and environment risks in accordance with the Contaminated Sites Act 2003.
- Management of environmental water risk and contaminated sites risks and mitigation programs.
- Lead the Water Licence approvals and reporting under the RIWI Act 1914, coordinating all aspects of delivery;
- Coordinate portfolio related input to Environment/Social surrounds focussed engagements with relevant Traditional Owner groups;
- Develop and maintain an overall work plan for the portfolio and manage the prioritisation of activities on this plan.
- Actively participates in the WAIO EHA leadership team to deliver on the functional purpose and foster a high performing and connected team
- Represent WAIO/BHP in environmental forums and contribute to industry best practice within the scope of the portfolio
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- Strong planning, project management, organisational and time management skills
- Understanding of relevant environmental legislation, in particular the Western Australia Rights in Water and Irrigation Act 1914 and Contaminates Sites Act 2003
- Substantive experience in managing water stewardship and contaminated sites
- Experience in Water Impact Assessment
