Position Description Board Director – Finance (CFO) & Treasurer (volunteer)

About the Role

The Board of Experimenta is seeking to appoint an experienced volunteer Director with specific skills and experience in the area of Finance with a CPA qualification. Specifically, this role will volunteer time for undertaking and directing the Financial Management of Experimenta. Including, reviewing and signing off on Monthly Financials, Audit reports, Insurance and Annual Financial Reports.

A knowledge of the not-for-profit sector and the arts would be advantageous.

This Director role is seen as a critical appointment in the continued progression, improvement and growth of this arts organisation.

Experimenta Board

The Board consists of 8 volunteer members, with elections occurring at the Annual General Meeting for a serve of 2 years. We have several committees: Human Resources, Artistic, Strategy and Marketing, and Finance. There are 6 board meetings a year and one Annual General Meeting, with one Strategic Planning Day per year.  With an allocation of approximately 6 hours per month dedicated to the role.

In addition, Directors attend openings and events in rotation. This travel is self-funded and voluntary.

Meetings are held in Melbourne every second month. Ideally, the Director would attend in person.
