We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager based in Sydney for our client delivering large-scale Renewable Energy Projects.

This role is critical in managing all commercial and downstream contractual aspects of the project, ensuring compliance, mitigating risk, and optimising project outcomes.

The Commercial Manager will act as a key liaison between project teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, supporting the successful delivery of critical energy infrastructure that underpins Australia's energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage downstream contracts across the project, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and value optimisation
  • Review and oversee commercial reports, contract performance metrics, and claims from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Provide strategic advice to the project leadership on commercial risk, variations, extensions of time, and dispute resolution
  • Act as the primary commercial interface between project teams, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Ensure all commercial activities comply with legislative, regulatory, and corporate governance requirements
  • Support financial reporting by monitoring budgets, forecasts, and cost control across all downstream contracts
  • Develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, fostering collaboration and trust across multi-disciplinary teams

Required Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager (or similar) managing downstream contracts in major infrastructure or energy projects
  • Strong background in overseeing complex contracts, commercial risk, claims, variations, and dispute resolution
  • Experience working with multi-disciplinary teams and managing interfaces between multiple contractors
  • Demonstrated ability to provide strategic commercial advice to project leadership and stakeholders
  • Strong knowledge of contract frameworks, commercial principles, and relevant industry regulations
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in law, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.
  • Professional certifications in contract management, commercial management, or project management (desirable)
