The Company

Brisbane Markets Limited (BML) is the proud owner and operator of the bustling Brisbane Markets in Rocklea, just 11km from the Brisbane CBD. Spanning 77 hectares, our site is home to over 160 tenants and more than 250 leases, including selling floors, warehouses, retail stores, and offices. Every day, more than 4,500 people pass through our gates, making BML a dynamic and fast-paced work environment.

About you

Are you a hands-on, proactive person who takes pride in keeping spaces safe, clean, and looking their best? Join our team at Brisbane Markets Limited (BML) and help shape the first impression of Queensland's leading fresh produce marketplace.

As a Gardener, you'll play a key role in maintaining the Brisbane Markets site to the highest standard. You'll be responsible for delivering exceptional site appearance, grounds care, line marking, and general maintenance—all while ensuring safety and presentation are second to none.

Responsibilities:

  • Keep our site clean, green, and pristine through regular mowing, pruning, trimming, and landscape maintenance.
  • Maintain roadway and pedestrian line markings across the site for clarity, safety, and WH&S compliance.
  • Ensure the site is always clean and well-presented, exceeding WH&S standards.
  • Apply herbicides safely and responsibly for effective weed control.

  • Carry out general property maintenance, including fixtures, buildings, and infrastructure.

  • Safely operate a range of tools and machinery including blowers, pressure washers, mowers, tractors, and ride-on equipment.

  • Assist with routine non-trade repairs and be ready to support emergency/disaster management efforts.

  • Maintain public areas including occasional toilet cleaning and waste disposal.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • MR Manual Driver's License (or higher)
  • Forklift License and Senior First Aid Certification
  • Experience in property and mechanical maintenance
  • Ability to safely operate a wide range of machinery
  • Strong understanding of WH&S and environmental compliance
  • Excellent communication and a proactive team attitude
  • Ability to perform physical work including lifting, bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Australian/New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency required

Experience operating a road sweeper or willingness to be trained is highly regarded.
