Funny name, serious business
We are a leading eco-friendly household essentials business and we donate 50% of our profits to help everyone gain access to clean water and a toilet. As of June 2024, we've contributed over $18 million AUD to this mission. Basically, we want to make it easy and fun to do good.

We operate scaling businesses in Australia, UK, US, and have just expanded into Canada. Our amazing team is based in Australia, the UK, the Philippines, China, and the US. Our 250+ people are committed to make the biggest possible impact for people and the planet. Over the next 5-10 years, we're hoping to increase our annual donation tenfold to get us closer to our dream of everyone in the world having access to clean water and sanitation services.

A bit about the role
As our Head of Impact, you won't just be managing donations, you'll be the architect of how our impact powers our business. You'll be responsible for making sure our commitment to donate 50% of our profits creates the maximum possible, measurable difference in the world to address the sanitation crisis.

You'll define our long-term impact vision, own the impact strategy, and evolve our partner selection and donation process. This includes ensuring our giving strategy aligns with our overall mission and business goals, and advising senior leadership on the financial implications and ROI of new initiatives.

You will become our resident impact expert, keeping your finger on the pulse of international development, social enterprise, and the WASH sector. Your deep knowledge and network will be crucial for cultivating new partners and managing the relationships with our amazing existing ones, ensuring we support them with both time and donations.

A huge part of your role will be being a storyteller and community builder. You'll work across the business to embed our purpose in everything we do, from strategic decisions to creative campaigns.

If you worked here this past month, here are some things you might have been involved in

  • Developing and implementing our annual donation strategy
: through evaluating current partners and exploring new ones. And obtaining approval from the CRAP FOUNDATION, which distributes our donations annually, on how to allocate this year's funds. While ensuring a balanced and diverse portfolio of WASH partners that are tackling the sanitation crisis at different levels.
  • Staying connected with the WASH sector
by attending WASH conferences, conducting a thorough strategic analysis of the sector, exploring new research and best practices, and assessing potential new areas and partners to expand our global reach impact.
  • Fostering partner relationships
by spending time with our impact partners (in a thoughtful way that doesn't get in the way of their amazing work). And getting an understanding of how our funding supports their mission, what challenges they might face and which opportunities could be worth pursuing.
  • Elevating purpose to inspire our team and delight our customers
through partnering with leaders across the business to amplify our impact efforts. Whether by facilitating meaningful field trips for our team or sharing impactful stories during town halls. For our customers, you've been collaborating closely with our Brand and Marketing teams to craft a compelling social impact narrative that resonates with authenticity, joy, and sparkle, inspiring pride and connection in everything we do.

Let's talk about you
You have dedicated your career to making the world a better place. You possess deep professional experience in International Development and a proven track record in the WASH sector.

  • You're a natural storyteller.
You possess the rare ability to translate complex international development challenges into compelling narratives that are both inspiring and deeply respectful of our partners and the communities we serve.
  • You're passionate about reimagining how we distribute resources, ensuring our 50% profit donation is a truly strategic, scalable, and mutually beneficial investment towards Sanitation and our business. Just because you know how the system works doesn't mean you don't see room for improvement.
  • You're a champion for ethics and an amazing collaborator.
You're not afraid to challenge us on how we can improve. You take ownership but also work seamlessly across departments to innovate our donation structure and guarantee we are having the most impactful, ethical, and financially sound effect possible.
  • You are a highly relational leader who builds trust and fosters equitable relationships with global partners.
You easily connect with and lead meetings involving people from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, ensuring our collaborations are respectful, productive, and align with their local needs and expertise.
  • You possess deep cultural competence, acting as a confident and respectful advocate for our global partners.
You are highly effective at operating and collaborating within diverse global settings and ensure our partners' voices and on-the-ground reality are central to our strategic decisions.

You give a crap
Do you want your work to make the world a better place? Do you want to work with other people who feel the same way? What a coincidence — us too

Why should you work with us?
First off, as a certified B Corp, we work to make a difference every day while maintaining the highest standards of social and environmental impact. With our most recent score of 125.5 we're in
very
good company with other
exceptional
B Corps around the world.

We also believe that helping to make the world a better place should be rewarded accordingly – that's why we offer competitive, market informed salaries, meaningful support towards healthcare for our team around the world, generous paid leave, tailored learning and development opportunities, and free toilet paper (yes, you read that right).

Our engagement surveys (thanks Culture Amp) tell us that our team is really proud (95%) to work for Who Gives A Crap and, well,
we
couldn't be more proud of that.

Have you made it this far?
If you're still reading, we think there's a strong chance you might be our kind of person. Here's the thing, though — research suggests that 60% of women and underrepresented folks might have already talked themselves out of applying. Even if you don't check every box above, we want to encourage you to introduce yourself. We believe a diversity of perspectives and experiences makes a team stronger — and the stronger our team, the closer we are to delivering toilets and clean water for all.

***Ready to jump in? Please note our application deadline is EOD Tuesday, Tuesday October 14th AEST.

Pssst... if you've already had a cheeky chinwag about this role with our wonderfully talented search partners, no need to send another application our way. Your existing one will do the job***
