Senior Stormwater Planner
This role will provide direction and leadership in the development and efficient implementation of Integrated Water Servicing within the Western Sydney Aerotropolis precincts, including Mamre Road, to meet customers and stakeholders' expectations.
The Business Development team is planning to deliver an integrated water approach to achieve the Wianamatta waterway health objectives, and this role is focussed on the successful and efficient deployment of Stormwater Schemes that achieves these objectives. When constructed, the Schemes will create the largest stormwater harvesting system in Australia that includes a recycled wastewater top up from Sydney Water's Advanced Water Recycling Plant.
What you will be doing:
- Lead the assessment of stormwater aspects within relevant development applications and provide timely feedback to internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide technical expert advice to the Stormwater Lead regarding the progress of stormwater and waterway engineering and integration with recycled water distribution network.
- Work with council partners at Liverpool/Penrith for Development Applications and with the Department of Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure for State Significant Developments as well as developers to clarify timing and deployment of key regional stormwater/drainage infrastructure.
- Lead in situations by providing frank and fearless technical advice and solutions that balance innovation, risks and exposure when achieving multiple values within a sustainable water servicing solution.
- Understand and demonstrate the importance of strategic relationships and position Sydney Water positively in identifying stormwater servicing solutions for developers and the local councils.
About you:
- Degree in one of the following subject areas: Engineering, Natural Resource Management, Environmental Science, Urban Planning or a related field.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in stormwater engineering, Water Sensitive Urban Design, fluvial modelling, riverine soft engineering or urban waterway restoration with relevant research and best practice experience.
- Ability to provide intelligent and innovative guidance regarding the current policy, regulation and standards for urban stormwater for greenfield development in Western Sydney.
- Demonstrated experience in the preparation of strategies, plans, submissions and reports relevant to waterways management, stormwater treatment and greenfield urban development.
- Demonstrated organisational and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities to meet tight deadlines.
