We are seeking a highly experienced and strategically minded Interim Chief Risk Officer (CRO) to provide leadership and oversight during a pivotal phase of the organisation's risk transformation (3-6 months). This interim appointment will play a critical role in driving our clients compliance with APRA Prudential Standards CPS 220 (Risk Management) and CPS 230 (Operational Risk Management), while also strengthening the broader enterprise risk culture and capability.

The successful leader will bring deep regulatory and industry insight, exceptional leadership presence, and the ability to partner with the Board and Executive Team to embed a sustainable, forward-looking risk strategy aligned with the organisation's long-term objectives.

By joining Tranzformd, you will be working with ASX listed companies on transformation strategies, initiatives and programs of work. This might include but is not limited to the following:

Strategic Leadership and Advisory

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Board, CEO, and Executive Team on all aspects of risk strategy, governance, and culture.
  • Provide strategic oversight of risk transformation initiatives, ensuring they are integrated with the organisation's business strategy and regulatory obligations.
  • Champion a proactive risk culture that balances innovation, resilience, and regulatory compliance.

CPS 220 (Risk Management Framework)

  • Lead the enhancement of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to ensure it reflects best practice and aligns with CPS 220 requirements.
  • Strengthen risk governance structures, Board reporting, and accountability mechanisms across the three lines of defence.
  • Provide insight into emerging risks and strategic implications for the business model and risk appetite.

CPS 230 (Operational Risk and Resilience)

  • Guide the organisation's strategic approach to operational resilience and third-party risk management in alignment with CPS 230.
  • Ensure clear mapping of critical operations, material service providers, and continuity arrangements.
  • Develop a roadmap for long-term operational resilience maturity, integrating risk, compliance, and business continuity disciplines.

Enterprise Risk Transformation

  • Oversee the execution of key risk transformation initiatives, ensuring cross-functional alignment and sustainable outcomes.
  • Enhance the organisation's risk data, analytics, and reporting capabilities to enable informed, strategic decision-making.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and capability uplift for the internal risk and compliance teams.

Stakeholder Engagement and Governance

  • Foster strong relationships with the Board Risk Committee, regulators, and external auditors.
  • Represent the organisation in regulatory discussions and ensure readiness for APRA engagement.
  • Communicate complex risk and compliance matters clearly, strategically, and with a focus on outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in senior risk leadership roles (CRO or equivalent) within an APRA-regulated environment (banking, insurance, superannuation, or financial services).
  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale risk and compliance transformations, particularly in relation to CPS 220 and CPS 230 implementation.
  • Strong strategic, regulatory, and commercial acumen with the ability to align risk management to business strategy.
  • Proven experience advising Boards and Executives on risk governance, culture, and transformation.
