Alpha Disability Australia Pty Ltd is a registered NDIS service provider delivering residential and community support services across Greater Sydney. The organisation provides Supported Independent Living (SIL), Short-Term Accommodation (STA), and Community Participation programs designed to enhance independence, wellbeing, and inclusion for people with disabilities.
Position Overview
We seek an experienced Residential Care Officer to provide care and supervision for people with disability in group housing and residential settings. The role involves assessing needs, planning and implementing individualised support programs, and monitoring and reporting on progress in line with NDIS Practice Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess clients' needs; plan, develop and implement educational, training and support programs.
- Interview clients and assess the nature and extent of difficulties; contribute to behaviour/support planning.
- Monitor and report on client progress; maintain accurate case notes and documentation.
- Liaise with families, carers, allied health and community services; refer to external agencies as required.
- Provide day-to-day supervision, personal support and daily living assistance in line with individual plans.
- Facilitate community access, skills development and participation activities.
- Uphold safeguarding, rights, privacy and cultural safety; follow WHS and infection control procedures.
- Participate in supervision, training and reflective practice; mentor junior staff where appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience
- AQF Diploma or higher in Community Services, Disability, Residential Care, Youth Work or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year relevant experience in residential/community care.
- Knowledge of person-centred and trauma-informed practice and NDIS Quality and Safeguarding.
- Strong communication, documentation and problem-solving skills.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, National Police Check, First Aid, Working with Children Check.
- Valid Driver's Licence and reliable transport.
Desirable
- Experience in SIL/STA/MTA, psychosocial disability or behaviour support environments.
- Training in behaviour safety, manual handling or medication assistance.
- Familiarity with NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits, case management and interagency coordination.
- Cultural competence; additional languages valued.
