REPORTS TO Operations Manager
JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of role The Support Worker position with Creative Respite and Community Services will provide flexible and responsive support to people with a disability and other care needs. The support worker will promote choice, self determination, and independence.
Core objectives include:
Provide assistance to participants in their home, the community and respite setting.
Main duties and Responsibilities
Deliver high quality supports to clients that promotes independence and self determination.
The candidate will have a thorough understanding of their role as a support worker and will respond to challenging situations with the appropriate knowledge the companies policies and procedures and NDIS compliance.
Individuals will be self motivated and eager to learn and develop their knowledge skills.
Individuals will have high attention to detail, great work ethic and willingness to go above and beyond for the people they support while maintaining professional boundaries and healthy workplace relationships.
Support Workers for CRCS will perform as part of a close knit team and therefore possess excellent communication skills to ensure the highest level of service to clients.
Some duties that are expected of the role include but are not limited to:
- Personal care.
- Manual handling.
- Meal preparation.
- Medication support as required.
- Mental Health support and awareness.
- Behaviour support- working with people who engage in challenging behavior.
- General household tasks including cleaning.
- Support participants with community based activities and appointments.
- Complete documentation in a timely, accurate manner.
- Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Reliable, flexible, and punctual.

SKILLS, COMPETENCY, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- A high level of organizational, communication (both oral
and written) and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team and
- individually. Knowledge of, and commitment to the principals of the NDIS.
- Current Drivers license and preparedness to use own comprehensively insured vehicle for work related duties.
- Current First Aid Certificate and CPR or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- Current Working with children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
- Cert III in Disability Work, Aged Care, Mental Health or Community Services
Experience
- Minimum 12 months experience as a support worker in the Disability or Mental Health sector.
- Experience with manual handling and positive behaviour support highly desirable.
Knowledge
Must have a good understanding of positive behaviour support and person-centered work practices.
- Good understanding of principles underpinning support work in the disability sector.
- Good understanding of the role and obligations under an NDIS registered provider.
- General understanding of mental health.
Other/Special First 6 months of employment is probationary.
Conditions The position involves shift work which includes weekends, evenings, sleepovers and public holidays.
- Must maintain Working with children Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening.
- Employment is conditional on employee providing evidence of a current First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Employment is conditional on employee maintaining a current and valid driver's license.
- Employment in this position is conditional on the employee having the use of a reliable registered motor vehicle, comprehensively insured for work related purposes due to the nature of community work.
- Where CRCS may have concerns that the employee's level of fitness is adversely affecting their job performance, the organization may, at its cost, require the employee to submit a fitness capacity evaluation to ensure that neither the employee or a fellow employee or participant are placed at risk of injury.

Pay: $30.00 – $41.00 per hour
