Cyber Security Specialist – NV1 RequiredWork for leading Telco company, theyre looking for a Cyber Security Specialist to support cyber governance, risk, and compliance, while working across multiple technologies and government frameworks. This role offers hands-on experience with Fortinet systems, incident response, and security uplift initiatives. this is a 6 month contract with a high chance of extension 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop security documentation, processes, and work instructions from scratch.
  • Support cyber incident response and assist with IR exercises.
  • Conduct vulnerability scanning/assessment using Tenable.
  • Contribute to backup & recovery processes and develop BCP/DRP documentation.
  • Assist with SIEM integration.
  • Work with Fortinet systems, including PAM integration, wireless network assessments, and network operations.
  • Advise internal teams, project groups, and agencies on governance, risk, and compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessments and control gap analyses across Fortinet systems and related processes.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Active NV1 clearance
  • Knowledge of Australian Government frameworks: PSPF, ISM, Essential Eight
  • Experience with Fortinet systems
  • Familiarity with incident response, Tenable vulnerability scanning/assessment, backup & recovery, BCP/DRP, SIEM integration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience in GRC, including security documentation, risk assessment, and control testing

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Ability to run or support Incident Response exercises
  • Experience with Fortinet PAM integration
  • Fortinet wireless network assessments
  • General network operations experience
