About Us
OUM was founded in the South Pacific island nation of Samoa in 2002. The University's mission was initially to provide vital medical education to help build a workforce capable of meeting the healthcare needs of underserved island communities. Over time, that mission has evolved to include educating students from other regions who also wish to serve those most in need.
OUM is an accredited international medical school that blends online learning with traditional clinical training. With students based across Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, the United States, and other regions, our flexible model of study is ideally suited to those balancing personal and professional commitments while pursuing a career in medicine.

About The Role
We are seeking experienced researchers to join OUM as Research Advisors. This role is pivotal in guiding our medical students through the research process – from developing project ideas to preparing manuscripts for publication.
Working online and on a casual basis, Research Advisors provide one-on-one academic mentorship, ensuring student projects meet ethical, professional, and scholarly standards. On average, advisors can expect to commit around one hour per month per student, depending on project progress.

 - Review and provide feedback on research prospectuses and manuscripts
 - Support students in understanding research ethics and compliance requirements
 - Provide timely, constructive feedback via email and online meetings
 - Foster an encouraging, professional environment for student growth
 - Contribute to OUM's Research Club and related academic activities
