The Lead Psychologist is to provide clinical expertise to the assessment, intervention and management of offenders who pose a serious and imminent risk in either targeted/fixated violence or those who have been convicted of terrorist offences or are at risk of radicalisation.

The role is also responsible for the oversight and completion of assessment and intervention of those prisoner's classified as Maximum Security.

The most suitable applicant will demonstrate their applied knowledge, skills, and experience against these essential role requirements of the Team Leader leadership stream:


• Extensive experience in specialist risk assessments, or similar, using structured risk assessment tools and protocols as well as the completion of comprehensive reports based on these assessments.

• Experience in the development of risk management plans to support operational service delivery areas within a security environment or similar.

• Extensive experience in the delivery of targeted individual intervention with individuals with complex behaviours and comorbid presentations.

• Demonstrated ability to provide high level clinical advice within relevant areas to inform best-practice approaches and contribute to service delivery initiatives.

• Demonstrated ability in the preparation of forensic risk assessment reports or clinical reports, treatment reports and risk management advice.

• Demonstrated ability to engage with relevant stakeholders and negotiate and navigate systems with competing priorities and sensitivities within a challenging environment.

• Ability to effectively translate risk assessment outcomes within a forensic context to operational recommendations and in line with legislative requirements (state and federal).

• Demonstrated high level ability to work effectively and flexibly in an environment with the potential for high levels of political and public scrutiny.

• Demonstrated experience in providing advice and analysis to complex scenarios and cases in tight timeframes.
