The Role - Permits Coordinator

  • Coordinate and monitor the progress of all building permit and building certification applications at a national level, supported by local staff in each state
  • Assist in managing building compliance requirements in each state of Australia
  • Drive compliance with local and national legislation and building codes
  • Prepare and manage Request for Information (RFI's) documents from the building surveyor
  • Oversee the documentation of all stages of Working Drawings, Engineering plans and any related requirements
  • Manage MDBC and commercial contract compliance and amendments
  • Application and closure of HOW insurance certificates on domestic projects
  • Application and management of municipal and infrastructure permits (road occupation/closure permits etc)
  • Preparation of approved permit documentation (stamped plans) for site usage and preparation of associated permit details and OH&S co-ordination plan site signs
  • Monitoring and scheduling of critical building permit inspections and documentation in conjunction with construction supervisors and issued permit requirements
  • Collation of final inspection documents, application for final inspections and close out of permits
  • Meet internally and externally set KPI's
  • Provide support to construction supervisors, estimators and claims teams as required during catastrophes / high volume events

Skills and Experience

  • Experience as assistant building surveyor
  • Prior building permit experience with insurance work
  • Experience in commercial, residential and strata construction
  • Drafting experience considered highly advantageous
  • Excellent time management skills with attention to detail
  • Proven ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and ability to multitask and problem solve
  • High level of customer service focus with outstanding relationship management skills
  • Commitment to safety with a knowledge of Health & Safety policies and procedures.

Ideally you will have

  • Minimum of 3 years working in the construction industry with proven experience managing multiple projects.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Insurance and Australian Building Codes.
  • Good computer literacy
  • Have a valid driver's licence
  • Have a current working with children check and police check (or willing to obtain prior to commencement)
