About the Role

Vic Permits is a professional boutique Building Surveying firm providing specialist services covering all aspects of building regulation and control. We are dedicated to providing a high quality of service to our clients. Our company is involved in a number of diverse projects that covers a variety of sectors of the building industry, with our office located in Ravenhall (Melbourne's West).

We are rapidly expanding our team and a fulltime opportunity awaits a highly motivated assistant building surveyor to become an integral team member in our business. In this role you will be required to assist with daily operations, working directly with the Director/Building Surveyor and other members of the team. This position provides technical assistance to enable the applicant to fulfil their role in an established and growing organization at the forefront of the Building Surveying Industry.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist with building permit applications, relevant authority approvals, performance solution reports, enforcement notices and report and consent applications.
  • Coordinating projects with the aid of a team
  • Documenting and processing building permits during the application, issue and completion stages.
  • Assist with general and technical enquiries, technical report writing and problem solving.
  • Assist with the collation of relevant certificates and technical information for the issue of the final certificates and occupancy permits.
  • Provide documentation management ensuring that job files and other office systems are completed accurately.
  • Schedule site inspections and mandatory inspections.
  • Receive administrative support when required.
  • Liaise directly with relevant consultants, authorities and clients, etc.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills

Ideal candidates must possess the following qualifications:

  • Completed tertiary qualification; Advanced Diploma of Building Surveying at minimum.
  • Minimum 3 years full time practical experience assessing domestic projects.
  • Practical experience in the issue of building permits of Class 1a and associated Class 10 buildings.
  • Further practical experience of Class 2-9 buildings preferred but not essential.
  • Knowledge and experience with application of the Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code of Australia/National Construction Code and relevant Australian Standards.
  • Experience with projects incorporating NCC Performance Solutions.
  • Hold a current Victorian Driver's License.

Required Skillset

  • The ability to both work autonomously and as part of a small but growing highly motivated team.
  • The ability to work with initiative and have a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills is imperative.
  • Exceptional computer and keyboard skills with knowledge and understanding of Microsoft software.
  • Excellent organisational skills and professionalism.
