Internal Auditor

We're seeking for an experienced and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to join our Risk and Governance team at our Kent Town Head Office. This is a permanent full-time position offering the opportunity to lead and deliver internal audits with a strong focus on ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 management systems, supporting organisational excellence, compliance, and continuous improvement.

As an Internal Auditor, you will play a key role in leading and conducting audits across SYC, working closely with managers and teams to assess compliance, identify risks, and strengthen governance frameworks.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct internal audits aligned with ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 standards, contractual and regulatory requirements, and SYC's management system.
• Support the achievement of SYC's objective goals through effective audit practices.
• Implement and report on SYC's audit plan, ensuring audits are completed to a high standard.
• Work collaboratively with managers to assess compliance, identify risk and provide practical recommendations.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of governance frameworks, quality systems, and information security management systems.
• Contribute to the development, improvement and implementation of audit-related procedures.

About You

• Proven experience auditing management systems, risk management, or governance.
• Ability to interpret and apply ISO standards in practical organisational contexts.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to produce high-quality reports.
• Ability to build collaborative relationships and communicate insights effectively.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• High attention to detail and analytical thinking.
• Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated experience in service-based regulatory environments that provide direct support to individuals or communities, such as human services, education, employment programs, or social impact organisations, is highly desirable.

Key screening and requirements:

• Lead Auditor certification for ISO 9001 and/or ISO 27001 or Diploma of Quality Auditing; OR Proven experience in Internal/External Auditing and willingness to complete an Lead Auditor certification within 12 months.
• Must be willing to complete a Working with Children Check, National Police Check and Bankruptcy Check.
• Possession of a current valid Driver's License, willingness to drive
  
  Where a motor vehicle allowance is paid for the use of the employee's personal vehicle for work purposes, the employee's vehicle must meet the minimum requirements outlined in the Motor Vehicle Policy and Procedure to be used for SYC business purposes.
• Intrastate and interstate travel may be required.
