Electrical & Controls Engineer
We're looking for a skilled Electrical & Controls Engineer to join CanDoIt Solutions — a leading team at the forefront of digital transformation across food, energy, and infrastructure sectors in Australia.
In this full-time role, you'll work on end-to-end delivery of electrical and automation systems across a growing portfolio of innovative projects — from designing clean, smart food manufacturing facilities to upgrading critical infrastructure and gas SCADA networks.
This is a role for someone who thrives on solving real-world engineering challenges and wants to work across electrical design, PLC programming, and SCADA systems in one place — with a team that values curiosity, initiative, and strong technical standards.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering project work across electrical, controls, and SCADA — from concept design to commissioning and handover.
- Designing and specifying control panels, electrical schematics, Safety Design, and field wiring to Australian standards.
- Programming PLC systems (especially Allen-Bradley and Omron) for sequence control, interlocks, automation logic and PLC Safety.
- Configuring and deploying modern SCADA systems — ideally Ignition — for real-time visibility, alarming, and reporting.
- Liaising with clients, suppliers, and project teams to define requirements and ensure quality delivery.
- Providing ongoing support to operations and maintenance teams — with a focus on reliability, safety, and usability.
- Staying current with regulatory standards (e.g. AS3000, AS4024) and industry best practices in controls and automation.
Key Projects You'll Be Working On
- Full-system design & automation for food and beverage facilities — including batching, packaging, and traceability.
- Gas network SCADA upgrade projects, including secure communications, remote telemetry, and high-availability architecture.
- Critical infrastructure upgrades involving protection systems, PLC/SCADA replacements, and safety system design.
Who You Are
- A qualified Electrical or Controls Engineer with at least 5 years of industry experience. RPEQ Ideally.
- Comfortable across both control system design and hands-on commissioning.
- Proficient with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley and/or Omron preferred).
- Experienced in SCADA development, with Ignition SCADA highly regarded.
- Skilled in reading and producing electrical schematics using CAD tools.
- A strong communicator who enjoys solving real problems with clients and trades.
- Knowledgeable of key Australian standards and industrial safety requirements.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary with bonus potential based on performance and project delivery.
- Flexible work arrangements and the option to support hybrid or remote delivery (where applicable).
- Exposure to multi-disciplinary projects with a high level of ownership and technical influence.
- Access to mentoring, formal training, and growth into lead or senior roles over time.
- A genuinely collaborative environment with a team that loves solving hard technical problems.
