Payroll Officer – Temp to Perm

Perth CBD | Standalone Role | Mining & Exploration Sector

Our client, a well-established mining and exploration company based in the Perth CBD, is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity for a capable and confident professional looking to step into a key standalone role within a dynamic and growing business.

 About the Role

Reporting directly to the Finance Manager, you will be solely responsible for managing end-to-end payroll for approximately 170 employees, with a payroll cycle consisting of fortnightly and monthly pay runs. This is a hands-on position that requires accuracy, accountability, and the ability to work independently.

 Key Responsibilities
  • Process and manage full-function payroll for all staff
  • Ensure compliance with relevant awards, enterprise agreements, tax, and superannuation obligations
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, reports, and reconciliations
  • Handle employee queries regarding payroll, entitlements, and deductions
  • Coordinate with internal departments for onboarding, offboarding, and leave management
  • Liaise with external bodies (e.g., ATO, super funds) as required
  • Generate payroll reports for internal stakeholders
About You

To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced payroll professional who thrives working independently and is comfortable operating in a standalone capacity.

Essential Criteria:
  • Proven experience in end-to-end payroll processing
  • Ability to manage payroll across multiple cycles (fortnightly/monthly)
  • Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, tax, and superannuation
  • High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity
Highly Desirable:
  • Prior experience using ELMO
  • Previous experience within the mining or resources sector
