The Whitsunday Regional Council is situated at the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. The region encompasses the 74 tropical Whitsunday Islands, the coastal towns of Cannonvale, Airlie Beach, Jubilee Pocket, Shute Harbour and Bowen along with the rural towns of Proserpine and Collinsville. Council is offering a rare and exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to become our next Team Leader Plumbing Services.

Based at the Proserpine Administration Building, the Team Leader Plumbing Services will:

  1. Oversee the operation of Plumbing Services and monitor timeframes and outcomes. Operate as a senior specialist.
  2. Provide comments and advice relating to all plumbing matters in relation to applications and related development matters.
  3. Provide advice for the Development Assessment branch in relation to subdivision approvals (MCU's, Reconfigurations, Operational Works, etc.).
  4. Carry out approval processes for Plumbing and Drainage Applications in accordance with legislation and Council requirements.
  5. Conduct inspections of plumbing and drainage installations and prepare 'As Constructed' plans.
  6. Act as Concurrence Agency in conjunction with Councils Water & Waste Department to assess build over or near Infrastructure applications covered by the Queensland Development Code 1.4.

Council is seeking applications for this permanent, full-time position, which operates over a Monday to Friday, 9-day fortnight. The perfect role for the individual seeking a flexible work / life balance, learning and development opportunities and job security.

  • Base Salary starting at $99,978.80 per annum

Applicant Essential Requirements:

  1. C Class Manual Drivers Licence
  2. Queensland Building and Construction Commission Licenced Plumber and Drainer
  3. Current General Construction Induction Card (White Card)

Applicant Desirable Requirements:

  1. Onsite Wastewater Systems designer accreditation (TAFE Qld qualification)
  2. Endorsements in backflow prevention, thermostatic mixing valves and solar heat pump installations
  3. Onsite Sewage Treatment Plant maintenance endorsement
  4. Eligibility as a member of the Institute of Plumbing Inspectors Queensland
  5. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications
  6. Certificate IV in Frontline Management
  7. Diploma in Project Management
