Finisar Australia is seeking a talented Fitter and Machinist to join our team in Sydney.

Key responsibilities

  • Fabricate and modify production and machine parts, from drawings or samples
  • Collaborate with engineers on new designs and contribute practical fabrication insight
  • Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical systems
  • Maintain workshop tools and machinery

Necessary Skills and Experience

  • Trade qualification as a Fitter and Machinist or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency with lathes, mills, drills, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and mechanical drawing reading.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical issues.
  • Intermediate computer literacy for job tracking and documentation.
  • Expertise in CNC machining/CAD/CAM systems.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience in manufacturing or production support environments.
  • Basic understanding of electrical or pneumatic systems.
