Raine & Associates Pty Ltd (R&A) is an employee owned, Brisbane-based consultancy firm specialising in geology, engineering geology and geotechnical engineering. Our knowledgeable and experienced team provides technical support for mining operations, and for civil and mining infrastructure projects.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Coal Exploration Geologist(ideally based in Brisbane).The role is intended for someone seeking a long-term position with longstanding clients, and well-established teams.

Role responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the execution of all activities related to exploration programs (planning, scheduling, earthworks, drilling, geophysical logging, monitoring and rehabilitation);
  • Ensuring SHMS awareness and compliance;
  • Assisting with the preparation of weekly and monthly progress reports;
  • Geological and geotechnical logging and sampling;
  • Geological and geotechnical data entry, geophysical corrections, QAQC, data validations and database management; and,
  • Liaising with relevant stakeholders on exploration program activities.

About the Applicant

The ideal applicant will have:

  • 1-3 years' experience as a Coal Exploration Geologist
  • Theoretical knowledge of coal geology, with practical site-based experience.
  • Confidence in a client facing role, with a passion for building trusted client relationships.
  • A charismatic, values-driven personality with a desire to work collaboratively as part of a thriving team culture.

In addition, we expect you to have:

  • Australian Permanent Residency or Australian Citizenship.
  • A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Geology or other relevant tertiary qualification.
  • A valid, Open Australian Drivers Licence.
  • Standard 11 Mining Induction.
  • Queensland Coal Mine Workers Health Assessment (Coal Board Medical)

Above all else, you must have a positive attitude, a strong focus on health and safety, and show initiative in solving problems and implementing improvements.

While being capable of operating autonomously, the successful applicant will be key members in a tight-knit and well-established geology team.

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent written and verbal skills, as well as strong client relationship skills. Proficiency in the use of software such as LogCheck, GeoBank, AcQuire, Vulcan and Excel will be highly regarded.
