Who are Batchfire Resources?

Batchfire Resources Pty Ltd is an Australian private company that owns and operates the Callide thermal coal mine near Biloela, Central Queensland. With significant reserves, long-term supply contracts and a strong growth outlook, Callide offers stability and opportunity for the future.

Currently utilising a modern mining fleet made up of 2 Draglines, 8 excavators and 60 trucks, we mine over 10Mt of coal per annum to service the needs of our domestic and international customers.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mine Geologist to join our high-performing Geology team at Callide Mine, near Biloela QLD. Reporting to the Geology Superintendent, you'll play a key role across Exploration, Geotechnical, Resource Modelling and Coal Quality Management.

This permanent full-time position is ideal for a driven professional who enjoys hands-on work, variety, and collaboration across departments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage in-pit geological control to ensure coal quality and quantity targets are achieved.
  • Provide geological and geotechnical input to support safe and effective pit slope management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across mine planning, operations, and engineering teams.
  • Deliver results in a dynamic operation featuring varied geology and multiple mining methods.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or Earth Sciences; postgraduate geotechnical qualifications are advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of open-cut coal mining operations.
  • Proven experience in mine geology and/or geotechnical roles within mining.
  • Personal attributes of energy, drive, and discipline.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with the ability to influence operational outcomes.
  • Current Drivers License
