Operator

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Operator to join our team at the BHP Olympic Dam site. This is a permanent role offering excellent conditions, competitive pay, and opportunities to expand your skills in both surface and underground operations.

• $46.29 per hour base rate
• $300 per week housing allowance
• + $4 per hour underground allowance (applies when undertaking underground work)
• 12% superannuation
• Permanent position with long-term stability
• Training provided for underground delivery operations

• 14 days on /7 days off roster
• 12-hour shifts
• Mix of day and night shift (night shift applies to underground operations)
• Options for Residential (Roxby Downs) or FIFO / DIDO

• Operate HC and/or HR Trucks - Safely operate heavy combination (HC) and heavy rigid (HR) trucks to transport general and palletised freight to various unload points across the Olympic Dam mine site, ensuring deliveries are completed efficiently and in line with site safety procedures.
• Underground Deliveries - Carry out HR deliveries to designated underground locations within the mine. Full training will be provided to support operators in adapting to underground environments, including compliance with specific safety requirements and protocols.
• Freight Handling - Take responsibility for the safe loading, unloading, restraining, and un-restraining of palletised freight to prevent load movement and ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and load restraint standards.
• Forklift Operations - Operate forklifts to assist with the safe and efficient loading and unloading of freight. This includes pre-start checks, following site safety rules, and working collaboratively with warehouse and operations staff to maintain smooth workflow.
• Safety & Compliance - Actively contribute to a strong safety culture by following all Toll and BHP site policies and procedures, reporting hazards, and participating in toolbox talks, pre-starts, and other safety initiatives.
• Teamwork & Communication - Work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and site personnel to ensure efficient freight movements, clear communication, and alignment with operational priorities.

• HR licence (minimum) - HC preferred, or willingness to obtain
• Current Forklift licence (mandatory)
• Proven experience in truck operations, freight handling, and load restraint - ideally within mining, resources, or heavy industry environments
• Demonstrated commitment to safety practices, hazard identification, and compliance with site requirements
• Ability to adapt to both surface and underground operations (training provided for underground work)
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, with a proactive and reliable approach
• Alignment to Toll's values and commitment to maintaining a positive safety culture
