About the role

Australian Infrastructure Group is seeking an experienced Leading Hand / Pipe Layer to join our team in Brisbane, Queensland. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating a team of construction workers, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards and within tight timelines.

What you'll be doing

  • Supervising and guiding a team of construction workers to complete pipe laying and other civil construction tasks
  • Ensuring compliance with all health, safety and environmental regulations on site
  • Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to guide the team's work
  • Monitoring and reporting on progress, identifying and resolving any issues or delays
  • Providing on-the-job training and mentoring to less experienced team members
  • Liaising with project managers, engineers and other stakeholders to coordinate activities

What we're looking for

  • Several years of experience as a Leading Hand or Foreperson in civil construction, with a strong background in pipe laying
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials and equipment
  • Sound knowledge of relevant health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Relevant trade qualifications or certificates
