About You:

  • Are you a highly skilled carpenter with proven leadership abilities, capable of managing and holding accountable a crew of carpenters and apprentices ensuring that all carpentry work adheres to plans and meets the highest standards?
  • Can you lead the team by example, setting a great precedent, and ensuring any site issues are handled professionally?

We're currently seeking a skilled and motivated Carpentry Leading Hand to step up and take charge on-site, ensuring jobs are completed safely, on time.

About the Role:

You'll be working across new residential builds in either timber or steel frames. Basically, we get handed the slab and we do all the carpentry work up to handover to the client.

  • Frames, lockup, soffits/cladding and fix outs.
  • Constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard and other materials.

This position blends hands-on carpentry with leadership responsibilities, providing the experience and skills to progress toward a Site Supervisor role.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Lead a small team on-site while continuing to perform hands-on carpentry
  • Coordinate and manage building sites, including trades and subcontractors.
  • Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and select appropriate formwork.
  • Mentor and guide junior carpenters and apprentices
  • Ensure work meets high-quality standards and complies with safety regulations
  • Coordinate tasks and manage timelines to keep projects on schedule
  • Perform site tasks as required

Essential skills needed:

  • Trade qualification in Carpentry (Certificate III or higher)
  • Leading Hand or supervisory experience is essential for this role
  • Construction OHS card (white card)
  • Confidence in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings and specifications to advanced level preferred
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong focus on safety, quality, and team mentoring
  • Can-do attitude, reliability, and commitment to deadlines
  • Ability to physically perform site tasks, including work at heights
  • Have own tools
  • Current Australian Driver's license.
