About the role

As a Senior member of the Trenching Crew, you will play a vital role to successfully deliver trenching and underground infrastructure projects for our growing Construction division. In this full-time position, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of trenching equipment and ensuring the successful completion of complex projects on time and to the highest standards.

What you'll be doing

  1. Be prepared to work away from home
  2. Co - lead, supervise and motivate a team to ensure all work is carried out safely, efficiently and to specification
  3. Coordinate and schedule the use of trenching equipment and other resources to optimise project delivery
  4. Liaise with clients, subcontractors and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution
  5. Monitor performance and productivity, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as needed
  6. Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety and environmental regulations
  7. Provide hands-on solutions to the team as required
  8. Contribute to the continuous improvement of trenching operations and processes

What we're looking for

  1. Significant experience (5+ years) in a Trenching Crew or similar role in the Telco industry
  2. Extensive knowledge of trenching equipment operation, maintenance and safety protocols
  3. A solid understanding of how to read DBYD plans and locate various assets
  4. HC Drivers Licence and experience (a must)
  5. First Aid and CPR ticket (or willingness to obtain)
  6. Confined Space and Gas Test Atmosphere ticket (or willingness to obtain)
  7. Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team
  8. Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and communication skills
  9. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with clients, subcontractors and other stakeholders
  10. Highly organised with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  11. Relevant construction industry certifications and licenses (e.g. plant operator's licence, confined space training)
