About the role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Mechanic to join our team at Coffs Auto Service in Coffs Harbour, NSW. We are the NRMA roadside assistance contractor in Coffs Harbour. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality mechanical services and roadside assistance on a rotating roster to our valued customers. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles, ensuring our customers' safety and satisfaction.

What you'll be doing

  1. Diagnose and repair a variety of vehicle issues, including engine, transmission, brakes, electrical, and suspension systems
  2. Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations, and inspections
  3. Provide exceptional roadside assistance, including jump-starts, flat tire changes, lockouts and towing services
  4. Maintain detailed records of all work performed and parts used
  5. Ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with industry standards and safety regulations
  6. Provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with customers about the status and progress of their vehicle repairs

What we're looking for

  1. Formal qualification in Automotive Mechanics or a related field
  2. Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Mechanic, preferably in a similar automotive workshop or roadside assistance environment
  3. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve a wide range of vehicle issues
  4. Excellent mechanical expertise and hands-on skills, with a deep understanding of vehicle systems and components
  5. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality work
  6. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers
  7. A valid driver's license and the ability to operate a variety of service vehicles
  8. Willingness to obtaining a truck licence and tow truck ticket with training provided
